Sabaku Gaara's life is no picnic by anyone's standards; the youngest of the three Sabaku siblings, Gaara emerged from his dying mother's womb in a Cesarean and honestly hasn't said or slept much since. A junior with a severe dissociative identity disorder (the violent and cruel other-half of which is none other than the infamous Shuukaku), Gaara's insomniac tendencies and by-the-by murderous intent has made him an ominous figure moving around in the background of many island-based activities, and a tentative enemy of many.

&ANDDOYOUFEELWHATIFEEL

There are few adjectives that describe Gaara entirely: split, dark, sleepless, indistinguishable, badly-broken, malicious-at-times, misunderstanding. None of these truly indulge or serve to exemplify his deep obsession with love and it's intimate connection with death. Gaara is one to think of things in increments of pain and heartbreak; having been abused by his mother's brother for much of his early childhood, Gaara has a quiet love for occult and horror, and often looks to his obsessions with others to distract him from his own internal conflict.

&CAN'TSTOPSLEEPINGAWAKE

There is so much of Gaara that is affected by Shuukaku's presence, that, often, even when his darker half is not in control, all of Gaara's energy and thought processes must be wholly focussed on keeping him at bay and remaining in control. Because Shuukaku and he are constantly at war over who is the rightful owner of Gaara's body, it is very difficult for Gaara to focus on things outside of himself without doing so with an almost super-human intensity. Shuukaku's ferocity also forces Gaara away from self-introspection; it is reasonable to say that, while Gaara knows Shuukaku very well, he knows himself hardly at all.

&DREAMINGOFZIONAWAKE

At the moment, Gaara's social position is quite precarious for this very reason. He has very few friends, and has only really ever been able to depend on his two elder sibling, Temari and Kankurou. However, he is noted as having disappeared shortly after his older sister declared her pregnancy several months ago - it's not clear as to where he's gone or why he's returned now, but he has been re-entered into schooling at the island's local OSHIMA HIGH and is currently housed independently. His intent and frame of mind are imperceivable, at the moment. Where has he been? What has he been doing? And why has he finally returned? But, of course, the only person able to answer those questions is Gaara himself. And thus far, he isn't talking.
